Apply to the Panelist Pool

The Review Panel process is the cornerstone of the Office of Arts & Culture's programs, and is key in our efforts to support the arts community with fairness and transparency. The agency is regularly in need of panelists to review, score, and/or rank applications. Review Panel members are responsible for understanding their role, consistently contributing to the discussion at hand, and scoring applications in a manner that will lead to the betterment of the community as a whole. Their primary responsibility is to assist the staff and commissioners in carrying out their obligations to serve the Sacramento public. As a panelist, you must:

  • Be a California resident
  • Be available for the entire panel meeting (1/2 - 3 days)
  • Have the ability and willingness to view up to 60 applications and work samples online before the panel meeting
  • Score applications based solely on review criteria without bias

If you are interested in serving on a Review Panel, please complete the below form (questions marked with an asterisk are required). You name will be added to a pool of potential panelists, and staff will contact you if and when your background would be a good fit for an upcoming Review Panel. Your information will be kept for one year before you need to re-apply. For questions, please email us
